Other Committee · Meeting of June 22, 2026
Westwood's FS1 Steering Committee kicks off design phase for a new fire station, site still undecided. Chair Ford Spaulding reported the committee's 15th meeting since December 1, 2025 brought its first session with newly hired firms PMA Consultants, as owner's project manager, and Castle Booze Architects, as design firm. Three sites remain under study: the current 637 High Street station, the former Deerfield School at 72 Deerfield Avenue, and town land behind 736-738 High Street.
The committee is targeting an October 26 special town meeting and a November 3 debt exclusion vote. "Time is of the essence, based on the inflationary costs of public construction," Spaulding said, citing the current station's condition. No site, design or cost has been chosen, and no formal votes were taken at the meeting.
