Select Board Puts FS1 Debt Question on Ballot
Other Committee · Meeting of August 3, 2026
Westwood Select Board sends FS1 project debt question to the November 3 ballot. The board accepted $734,000 in grants, including a $625,000 Drug-Free Communities Grant, and heard a design update from Owner's Project Manager PMA and designer KVA on three sites still under review ahead of an August 7 site-selection meeting. Chair Maryann LeBlanc-Cummings called the FS1 decision "one of the most consequential decisions facing Westwood," noting past midterm turnout of 64 to 73 percent versus just 18 to 34 percent on 2025 local ballot questions.
A special town meeting is set for October 26 to authorize borrowing by two-thirds vote before the November 3 ballot question. The board also ratified a contract for incoming Police Chief Russell O'Neill and found Town Administrator Connor Reed's first six months "well exceeded expectations."
