Planning Board · Meeting of April 21, 2026
Westwood Planning Board continued a hearing on a proposed 260 Washington Street daycare over parking safety concerns. The board voted 4-0 to push the Foresight Education/Sunsprout Bilingual School application to June 2 after Director of Community and Economic Development Nora Lachnane said the site falls short of the required 20 parking spaces, noting "we're starting at a deficit." Chair Ellen Rollings said she was "not convinced" a proposed drive-through turnaround in a shared rear lot was safe, citing a driveway as narrow as 12.5 feet. Attorney David Hearn Jr. argued the Dover Amendment protects the child care use from the town's standard parking rules.
The board separately adopted updated special permit and EIDR regulations by 4-0 vote and opened discussion of a state Chapter 40Y starter home zoning program, taking no action.
