Westwood boards review scaled-back Fire Station 1 design ahead of November vote. Town Administrator Connor Reed and consultants from KBA and PMA Consultants briefed the Planning Board and Conservation Commission on a roughly 29,000-square-foot station, about 20 percent smaller than a version voters rejected in late 2025, ahead of an October 26 special town meeting and a November 3 debt exclusion ballot. The design impacts about 2,200 square feet of wetland, replicated at a two-to-one ratio, and would add roughly 40 parking spaces near the library.
Planning Board Chair Ellen Larkin said "the number one concern that I have heard, which I share, is making the situation worse," referring to neighborhood groundwater and stormwater issues. Two independent cost estimators are set to reconcile budget figures Sept. 23, targeting agreement within 5 percent. No votes were taken on the project itself.
