Planning Board · Meeting of September 8, 2026
Westwood Planning Board denies three-classroom daycare's parking waiver, approves single-room version instead. The board voted 4-0 against letting Foresight Child Care Facility at 260 Washington Street substitute off-site spaces for six of the 13 parking spots its three-classroom plan required, with member Michael J. Derderian citing the lot's "specific details" and warning the parallel-parking space posed more hazard than help.
Attorney Christopher Alfin argued five on-site spaces plus eight off-site spots at a nearby church satisfied the Dover Amendment, but the board held firm; the applicant then won 4-0 approval for a one-classroom, 15-child facility with conditions, over counsel Jonathan Silverstein's objection that the firm was "not waiving" its right to contest the denial. The board separately revoted 4-0 to approve a Walmart Spark store special permit at 21-25 Southwest Park after fixing a defective August 18 vote, and approved a riprap retaining-wall change for the Home2 Hotel at 100 Station Drive.
