Planning Board · Meeting of July 14, 2026

WESTWOOD — The Westwood Planning Board voted unanimously to continue a contested Dover Amendment parking waiver hearing for the proposed Foresight Child Care Facility at 260 Washington Street to September 8. New counsel for the applicant, attorneys Christopher Alpern and Jonathan Silverstein, argued the board can only weigh dimensional parking standards, not traffic or safety, telling the board "the Dover Amendment is really clear about what the board can consider." The facility needs 13 parking spaces under the bylaw but offered five on-site and eight off-site. Member Michael Derderian said the board needed its own legal advice on whether Police Department safety concerns fall within its authority.

The board, sitting with only three of five members present, separately voted 3-0 to reject an incomplete subdivision plan for 151 Grove Street and pushed a rules-amendment hearing to August 18.
