WESTWOOD — The Westwood Planning Board rejected a proposed four-lot subdivision at 235 Westfield Street and adopted revised parking and traffic regulations. Director of Community and Economic Development Nora Loughnane told the board applicants Paul and Carol Gay's plan fell short on frontage, with one parcel showing 168.18 feet against a required 175 feet; the board voted 5-0 to find the plan ineligible for approval-not-required endorsement. The board separately adopted updated automobile parking design standards and traffic study guidelines, 5-0, after Secretary Timothy Haladyna flagged that the traffic guidelines cited a 1989 reference document; Loughnane found a 2014 state document to replace it.
Loughnane called the guidelines' 4 percent traffic-growth assumption "extremely high" compared with an industry standard of about 1.5 percent. The board also voted 4-0-1 to recommend Vice Chair Philip Giordano to the new Town Council Screening Committee, with Giordano abstaining, and continued its rules and regulations hearing to July 14.
