Westwood Youth Soccer confirms Sept. 12 season opener, sets new referee meeting
WESTWOOD -- Westwood Youth Soccer's website added new administrative details this week for the fall season, including a referee training session and a set date for the first games.
YOUTH LEAGUES -- Westwood Youth Soccer (WYS) posted a notice for a "NEW Referee Meeting," aimed at new referees and any referee who obtained first certification after March 2026. The session is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 1, from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Westwood Public Library Community Room. According to the posting, referee parents are welcome to attend, and anyone partway through certification should also attend and email the club's referee coordinators, Bruce Masi-Phelps and Mark Plecinoga, at wysrefcoordinators@gmail.com. Experienced referees who were certified before March 2026 do not need to attend and will be contacted before the 2027 spring season instead. The site states that fall season information will go out around Labor Day weekend and that "first games are Saturday September 12."
The club's site also lists a WYS Board of Directors meeting for Sunday, Aug. 23, 2026, at 7:00 p.m.
