Select Board · Meeting of May 22, 2026
Westwood Select Board voted not to appeal a Land Court ruling limiting the town's plans for restricted conservation land on Clappertree Street. Chair Marianne LeBlanc-Cummings read a statement, adopted unanimously, saying the court's May 18 decision found the conservation restriction bars a total ban on agricultural uses but also rejects the town's original proposal for 665 Clappertree Street. The board voted 3-0 by roll call to enter executive session with Town Counsel Pat Ahern to discuss litigation strategy, and later voted 3-0 to adjourn.
The statement invited the Westwood Land Trust "to similarly commit to ceasing further litigation" in the case, Town of Westwood v. Westwood Land Trust. Public comment on the ruling is set for the board's June 1 meeting at 6 p.m.
