Westwood Select Board Approves Tax Bill Insert on Fire Station 1 Feasibility Study
WESTWOOD — June 1, 2026 — Westwood Select Board approves tax bill insert on Fire Station 1 study and launches town counsel search. At its June 1 meeting, the Board voted unanimously to place an informational insert in resident tax bills updating the public on the Fire Station 1 feasibility and schematic process, which PMA Consultants is managing following Town Meeting authorization; the firm expects to procure a designer for the work by early July. The Board also unanimously approved an RFP to recruit a replacement for Town Counsel Pat Ahern, who is retiring this summer. Town Administrator Connor Reed reported that COSCO's traffic study of the Route 1 corridor — a prerequisite for the MassDOT Intersection Improvement Plan — is underway and due in fall 2026, with Westwood and Norwood DPW representatives having advocated at a recent joint meeting for a broader analysis covering Canton Street, Everett Street, Forbes Road, and the Upland Road-Clapper Street intersection. Reed also announced that Paro Consulting hosted a community conversation on the police chief search on June 2 at the Westwood Library, with formal interviews set to begin in mid-June.
