Select Board · Meeting of October 14, 2026
WESTWOOD — The Westwood Select Board previewed the FS1 project ahead of twin votes and adopted a new town counsel policy. Chair Mary Ann LeBlanc-Cummings said the project needs a two-thirds vote at the Oct. 26 special town meeting and a simple majority on Question 10 at the Nov. 3 ballot, following a unanimous Finance Committee recommendation. Finance Director Stephanie McManus reported fiscal year 2026 closed with strong tax collections and local receipts above budget, certifying roughly $12 million in free cash.
The board voted to adopt a new Town Counsel Access Policy and to send a letter to the Department of Public Health "urging the restoration of full-service acute care hospital services at Norwood Hospital." The board also recognized energy manager Tom Philbin as Westwood became one of only three Massachusetts towns to win the 2026 Mass Save Impact Award.
