Westwood Select Board Reorganizes, Puts Norwood Costco on Next Agenda
WESTWOOD — May 11, 2026 — Westwood Select Board reorganizes after annual election and flags Norwood Costco as a traffic concern. At its May 11 meeting, the board elected Maryann LeBlanc-Cummings as chair, Joe Prevatera as third member, and newly elected Erin Sibley as clerk for the coming year. Town Administrator Connor Reed reported that a proposed Costco at One Technology Way in Norwood has received Zoning Board of Appeals relief but has not yet filed a site plan review or major project special permit with the Norwood Planning Board — filings that will trigger a mandatory traffic study and public hearings. Reed noted MassDOT's concurrent Route 1 intersection improvements at University Avenue and Everett Street, currently at the 25 percent design stage, require coordinated communication among Westwood, Norwood, and the state agency. The board directed department heads from Public Works and Community and Economic Development to present at the next meeting; a dedicated project page is live on Westwood's website. The board also recognized the 11-year tenure of departing Council on Aging Director Lena Arena DeRosa, whose retirement takes effect at the end of June.
