Westwood Town Meeting approves 30 of 31 warrant articles, funds new fire station design study. Moderator Jim O'Sullivan said Monday's Annual Town Meeting, covering 18 Select Board articles, three from the School Committee, nine from the Planning Board and one citizen's petition, approved $325,000 for feasibility and schematic design of a new Fire Station One on a 238-69 electronic vote after a motion to cut off debate failed, with O'Sullivan noting "some people still wanted to speak." Members also adopted new short-term rental regulations covering Airbnb and VRBO listings, 141-35, approved $1,615,000 for the town's OPEB retiree benefit fund, transferred the former Deerfield School property to the town on a two-thirds vote, and indefinitely postponed the lone citizen's petition on the Finance Committee's recommendation.
